Frequently Asked Questions

☞ How many mimicry peptides have been reported?
According to miPepBase, there are more than 200 peptides as of May 2016
☞ Can we get detail list of mimicry peptide sequences in text format?
Yes, you can download it here. If excel format is preferred, you can mail to Dr. Manish Kumar
☞ Is it possible for us to predict a peptide sequence with more than 50 amino acid residues or more than      one sequences at a time?
Yes, you can do this by BLAST. User can also specify BLAST parameters such as Database, Expectation value (E-value) cutoff and       Alignment Scoring Matrix value using drop down menu.
☞ Can we search for mimicry peptides from bacteria or fungi only?
Yes, you can do this either by keyword search or selecting checkbox for host and pathogen taxonomy group in search page.
☞ How do I obtain a list of mimicry peptide that involved in particular autoimmune diseases?
You can search for such peptides from checkbox against the disease in search page.
☞ Can I searched for specific pathogen and host involved in the autoimmune disease?
Yes, You can do so by selecting specific host and pathogen (e.g. Human & coxsakievirus) in search page.
☞ Can I get detail information related to mimicry peptide?
Yes, You can get it by clicking the hyperlinked ID of search result page. It will give you more related information (e.g. GO IDs, PDB IDs, etc.)       for that entry.
☞ Can I get amino acid properties related information for peptide or protein?
Yes, you can do so by click the hyperlink of view peptide properties and view amino acids composition profile . miPepBase also comprise       protein and mimicry peptide physicochemical properties, which will helpful to predict the nature of protein and optimization of protein       expression. For protein we include molecular weight, number of amino acids residues, average residue weight, charge, isoelectric point, amino       acid: number, molar percent and DayhoffStat, molar extinction coefficient etc. The hydrophobicity plot and histogram of physico-chemical       properties such as tiny, small, aliphatic, aromatic, non-polar, polar, charged, positive and negative also available for mimicry peptide.
☞ Does the miPepBase linked to UniProt, RCSB PDB, EMBL-EBI Quick GO and PubMed       repositories?
Yes, this has been enabled for all the reported entries.
